It’s time to rally the troops because, this year, Fake Prom is going to war.
If you don’t know about Fake Prom, here’s the definition pulled right from their site:
Fake Prom is exactly what it sounds like: an annual dress-up party that mimics the look and feel of a high school graduation formal dance…but is a complete fraud! Not sanctioned by any official scholastic institutions or learning organizations, Fake Prom is a counter-culture alternative to the uptight rigidity of those stuffy old “real” proms.
The theme of this year’s Fake Prom, to be held on August 26, is “goes to war.”
Any respectable attendee knows that not dressing up is messing up, so my friends and I followed suit and took our pick from: nurse, sailor, 40s housewife, pin-up, army vet and Rosie the Riveter.
I like me a little flirtatiousness so went straight for pin-up. Who knew my curvy hips would come in so handy?
Here’s a sneak peek of the dress and a mini hair test (just for the flower):
Are you coming?
This year’s prom is happening August 26, 2011 at Palais Royale. You can buy tickets online or at Rotate This!, Soundscapes and Exile Vintage for $17. Follow them on Twitter @fakeprom.
